Another holiday season is upon us and it is important to always try and remember that this time of year we should always be focused on others. As I am getting older, primarily it is evident that the gift giving and the surprises are about the children. Family is about love and as people we should all strive to show others that we indeed do love them at this time of year. There are always a great many charitable functions that take place at this time of year. There are numerous fundraisers that take place for various causes. We should all strive to give thanks for all that we have while aiding in the cause to help others. There are numerous parties where people get dressed up and eat/drink glorious treats. We all have to try and remember what the real meaning of these holidays is. The holidays are about opening your heart up to aid others. Commercialism has made the focus all about the presents. As we mature we come to understand that there is far more to the season than the presents and the food that is served. Every year I remind myself of how fortunate I am to have recovered to this point. Certainly I often have my moments where I wish that things were easier again but then I wouldn’t be able to spread hope to others. I realize how fortunate I am in that I get to make a difference in the lives of people who are familiar with what it is to have a devastating injury. I would encourage all to always seek out others who you can aid and help and I guarantee that your holidays will be much more meaningful. I always try to keep my eyes and ears open for chances to further my holiday cheer by helping others who may be less fortunate than I. There is always an opportunity to share with people who would be receptive and grateful for it. Open your hearts this holiday season and try to spread the loving joy to as many people as you can. It doesn’t cost anything, but a little bit of time and a little bit of love. The gift of emotional support and graciousness is worth far more than any tangible gift could be. Hold on tight to your family this holiday season and try and remember all of the gifts that each one of us has. Try and not lose sight of the true meaning of the holiday season and try and spread joy and love to as many people as you come into contact with. There is no limit to the amount of lives that each one of us can try and improve. Remember that we were all put on this earth to help one another. I thank you all for reading and would encourage any responses that you may have.
