Christmas Inspiration

"Our many different cultures notwithstanding, there's something about the holidays that makes the planet communal. Even nations that do not celebrate Christmas can't help but be caught up in the collective spirit of their neighbors, as twinkling lights dot the landscape and carols fill the air. It's an inspiring time of the year." Marlo Thomas

Marlo Thomas helps to remind us that the spirit of the winter holidays should always be with us. Each one of us has the ability to carry the holiday spirit with us. Cultures of humanity are rich in traditions. Regardless of how distant your injury gets from the present day, a person who has endured an injury is forever a survivor. Daily we should be seeking inspiration from those who are similar to us. Regardless of any religion that you practice; we all practice and seek a fulfilling life. The community and comradery of the holidays are what the holidays represent. It is my hope that none of us ever lose sight of the warmth and love of family. Each one of us is incredibly blessed in that we have survived and are able to live our lives striving to enjoy and create meaning. Christmas is this weekend and as my family was cleaning up the house to prepare for guests. Undoubtedly there will be many children and much food prepared. My town has a tradition of Santa coming on the fire engine for the kids. What is interesting is that every house on the street will each have their own tradition and celebration for the holiday. The uniqueness of the holiday celebrations should all be celebrated. Each one of us is different and has our own way of celebrating the cheer that is this time of year. Marlo Thomas’ quote is very applicable because it is representative of the individuality that is unique to each one of us. The holidays are not about a specific religion or specific tradition; they are about celebrating one and all for everything that each one of us will celebrate. Joy is the overwhelming emotion that will unify all of us in our desire to celebrate this season. The children and the parents will all gather at a relative’s house in my family and it is my hope for each one of you to never be alone at this time of year. I know that there are various support groups that open their doors to the public if you do not have somewhere to spend the holiday. Open yourself to the various possibilities and allow yourself to venture out of your comfort zone this holiday season. Try and keep track of your mood and desperately try to never lose sight of the joy that is the holiday season. I am going to try and book myself a massage following the new year to begin my year on a relaxing note. Every year I try and remind myself of how fortunate I am to have my family right in the vicinity especially at the holidays. I hope that you all have a wonderful holiday season and I extend warm wishes to you and your families.
