Betterment of Women

“Maybe the truth is, there's a little bit of loser in all of us. Being happy isn't having everything in your life be perfect. Maybe it's about stringing together all the little things.”  Ann Brashares

Ann Brashares reminds all of us that there is an incredible power in unity. Last night was the new annual event put on by the Girl Scouts. It was an incredible honor to be recognized by such a fantastic organization. Every female has to celebrate what unique quality that she brings to society. Females must stand by each other and support one another throughout all of the difficulties of life. We as women have come quite a long way that women now have all of the same rights as men. Women deal with childbirth which is certainly a large stressor on the body and in life but they are now respected as intellectually the equal to their male counterparts. Women can band together and help one another. They almost have to in order to continue progressing forward in society. Last night I was at the Phenomenal Woman Under 40 event where I was distinguished by the Girl Scouts. A former professor of mine from college attended with his wife. It meant so much to me that he and his wife traveled down to the event which was far from his house. He is still a professor and it was a school night, yet it still meant enough to him to be there. I felt empowered that every person in the room was there to celebrate all of us honorees who are working to make the world a better place for all; especially women. Hopefully we can help to make the environment give even more opportunities to women. I attempted to share what greatly helped me along the way. My bosses were present as well as some of my family and I know that they are proud of what I was honored for. Sometimes I think that people get too distracted away from the things that help to make the world full of better people. I learned much from being in the presence of the other honorees last night. Each honoree brought something else to the table and each was honored for what they do. Every person there stood for things that the Girl Scouts try to instill within their members. The people in attendance at the dinner paid to support the cause and thus support the betterment of young girls in society. Large goals are accomplished when they are taken on by many fronts. The betterment and equality of women has come a very long way over the years but there is still a long way to go. With the possibility of women officials in government it is very clear to see just how far the country has come in its view of the gender. I am hopeful that you will all support the cause for the betterment of women.

I thank you very much for reading.
